My husband and I had a wonderful day in historic Bordentown, New Jersey. Yet another one of New Jersey’s many quaint artistic communities full of thrift stores, bookstores, art galleries and great places to eat.

First stop, a hearty lunch at The Farnsworth House Restaurant: http://www.thefarnsworthhouse.com/

The food was amazing and we had excellent service. The best part was the huge salads with mixed greens, cabbage, carrots and cucumbers.

Then we spent about two hours in The Record Collector: http://www.the-record-collector.com/

We’ve been on their mailing list for a couple years now and finally made the trip down to the shop.

Dennis got me “Sharp Cuts” a vinyl record with a bunch of new wave bands from back in the day including The Know, featuring Gary Valentine (who was on the first Blondie album) on guitar and lead vocals; The Fast; The dBs; and more.

Then we really scored. This amazing place Randy Now’s Man Cave and Consignment Shop: http://www.mancavenj.com/

They had all kinds of pop culture finds, unique sodas and candies, Weird NJ stuff, retro stuff, postcards,  Andy Warhol stuff, Misfits notepads, tons of records and CDs. Dennis got me three CDs and a Johnny Cash button.

The owner, Randy Now, was the promoter at City Gardens and booked thousands of bands there. They are making a movie about him called “Riot in the Dance Floor.” Check it out: http://www.citygardensfilm.com/

We ended up talking to him for over an hour! Next to the store they have a spot where live bands play. We may just have to check it out someday.

A super, fun day and a great way to end a fabulous weekend. Mike Nesmith Friday night, Saturday night visiting our friends Tommy and Darlene and now this beautiful day. LIFE IS GOOD!
