I finally got to meet Jacqueline, who said she was my “biggest fan.” We met on Face Book over a year ago! Thank you Jacqueline for supporting both “Guest List” and my new book “Love Cats” and bringing along your posse!

My friend Brian Bailey came too! We met each other when I was 16 and standing in line to meet new wave group Blotto, famous for their big hit, “I Wanna Be a Lifeguard.”

Also, my good friends, Gerard & Diane Barros were in attendance! Check out their music, they’re incredible talents: http://www.barrosmusic.com/

Proceeds of sales for “Love Cats” from last night’s event went to various animal organizations in honor of the death of Cecil the Lion.

Kate Bush Record Used in “Love Cats” Love Scene

Published July 30, 2015 by Maryanne

Happy Birthday to music icon Kate Bush!

Since I had quite a few Kate Bush albums in the 1980s, I decided to use her music as background music during an intense love scene in my fiction book “Love Cats.”

THANK YOU KATE BUSH, for being an inspiration!

Janey and her crush Heather are alone in the bedroom for the first time.

Janey is nervous and decides to put on a record to calm her nerves. She chooses something she thinks Heather might like — Kate Bush.

She turns the stereo on low and says to Heather, “Now where were we?” as she pulled Heather’s face toward her to kiss her again.

With one arm around Janey, Heather swiftly used one hand to get underneath Janey’s top and unhook her bra.

My Readers are Absolutely Adorable!

jacqueline - reader - FB friendJacqueline and her summer read!

Last year when my first book (“On the Guest List: Adventures of a Music Journalist”) was published, I was doing a reading/book signing at a local library. Jacqueline contacted me and said she wanted to meet me. Turned out that night her son had a musical program at school and she couldn’t make it. But we remained friends on Face Book. Then she ordered my first book on line and had nothing but good to say about it!

So, needless to say, I was thrilled when I saw she posted this adorable photo on Face Book, supporting my second book “Love Cats” saying she was going to read it by poolside!

As an author, it’s the coolest thing to be able to connect with your readers and become friends with them. I would love to know everyone who is reading my books and what they think. But of course that is impossible. Some I may never meet or hear from. Just like blogging. I check out my stats every day and hundreds of people are reading various articles, some from as far back as 2012 when I first started this blog. Who are these people? I wonder. It’s similar to having a radio show, you never know who is listening, right? But when you do find out — you just love it! And how cute is Jacqueline? Should I hire her as my book model? 🙂

Join in on the poolside fun — order your copy of “Love Cats” today!

Would You Date Someone If They Hated Your Cat?

Why doesn’t Janey like me?!

In “Love Cats” when Beck Stewart meets Janey Peyton, he thinks he found the perfect girl … except …

Below is an excerpt from “Love Cats” (Kindle and paperback available on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YBGVJQS/) Note: Sexual content, 18 and over, please.

Love Cats excerpt

Faults? Of course Janey had them; he knew that from day one. First of all she hated his cat. It was almost like Janey was in competition with Morticia. He’d catch her doing crazy things like staring the cat down. And worse, he even caught her kick the cat once … not very hard, but hard enough to upset an animal lover. Morticia scampered away and hid.

“Don’t you ever do that to my cat again.

“What did I do?”

“You kicked her! That wasn’t cool.” Beck tried to get his cat to come out of hiding by calling her. “Morticia … come here Baby!” Morticia was nowhere in sight. “That’s so messed up, Janey.” He shot her a look and continued searching for Morticia in the apartment.

“I’m sorry … won’t happen again,” Janey mumbled under her breath.

“Morticia is a living being. She’s not a stuffed toy. She has a little heart, she breathes. She’s more than just a pet, Janey. She’s family. I had her ten years, since I was a teenager. Mom gave her to me!”

“I said I was sorry!” Janey yelled. “I don’t need a lecture!”

Beck was so disappointed in her.
