I stopped doing the Awards thing for awhile because it is a lot of work.
But I couldn’t resist this one from Ivonne: http://ivonnemontijo.wordpress.com/2013/02/23/the-missy-award/#comment-1703
Being an animal lover, I am soooo honored! Ivonne presented me with this award for being a vegetarian (Since 1986 I might add; and haven’t used products that tested on animals since the early 1990s!)
And isn’t her doggie the cutest?! I wanna snuggle with Missy all night!! AND RUB THAT BELLY!!!!
SQUEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Missy Award is presented to those bloggers who support and advocate for animals either in the blog as a whole or a blog post. They can be animal lovers, vegetarian, vegan, rescue workers, doesn’t matter it’s all about the animals.
The Rules are:
1- You must post the Award Picture onto your blog–but who doesn’t love putting award pictures on their blog?!!!
2- Link back to http:ivonnemontijo.wordpress.com
3-And answer two questions.
A- What inspires or motivates you to write?
B- Why do you love animals?
4-Nominate other worthy bloggers or just simply accept the award and do #’s 1-3
5- Oh yes, please let your nominees know you nominated them .
My answers are :
A. What inspires or motivates you to write? EVERYTHING. Life is just one big story waiting to be told. I can write about my life, your life, my cat’s life … it’s all good!
B. Why do you love animals? Animals are just the sweetest things ever. All they want is to survive and to be loved. You give them a little love and what you get in return is tenfold. My little cat Derick looks at me as if I am God. It’s just so amazing. And they are so smart too. From fish to a monkey — all animals have something to offer. Just pay attention and you’ll see!
My TOP 3 nominees for this award are:
MISS HARPER LEE: http://thek9harperlee.wordpress.com/
(For being the cutest, most reflective Golden Retriever on Word Press!)
RACHEL MANKOWITZ http://rachelmankowitz.wordpress.com/
(For sharing stories about her adorable doggie, Cricket!)
LONG LIFE CATS AND DOGS http://longlifecatsanddogs.wordpress.com/
(Check out Susan’s blog, she does SO MUCH for animals, such an inspiration!)
Congratulations to my winners, please spread the award around, animals are a GOOD THING!
Wow, you haven’t used products tested on animals since the 90s? I must ask, how do you do that? How do you make sure that they aren’t tested on animals?
Congratulations! That award is really cute
animal rights groups send you lists of companies and you don’t buy what they sell, and some companies write on their products not tested on animals…but now you are making me think we should go there and make sure.
Thanks for answering Erin! PETA has a huge list of companies that test and don’t test. They can send it to you free of charge by request. And when in doubt, don’t buy 🙂
i don’t the answer to many questions.they have been sending them to me for years…only a vegetarian since 1989.i have a million address labels. i bet you do, too.
yes, that’s good- when in doubt don’t buy.
You’ve been a vegetarian almost as long as I have, that’s a long time. I used to get all the address labels with the bunnies too. I stopped using them though, I had a very bad experience at the PETA house in the late 1990s, so I am a bit anti-PETA, but love the more authentic things about them.
you are 3 years longer. i forgot to say i found out in 2004, that i’m very allergic to soy.i’m a soy free vegetarian.drs are not too happy. they want me to eat salmon.
That’s interesting. The nutritionists I’ve been going to are anti-soy and hate that I’m a vegetarian. But then I go to an acupuncturist who said soy is very good, as long as you use real tofu, not the manufactured stuff and I agree with her on that.
Salmon is a large fish, so you are better off eating wild sardines because they are small and contain less mercury. Salmon to me, is a treat and I only eat it in a high grade sushi restaurant.
i wrote you a long answer and it wouldn’t send. for an hour just testing
Oh no! That’s awful. You can always send me an email: maryannechristiano@gmail.com
oh thank-you very much.. it took me a half hour to type…but email was giving me trouble too and asking me to guess the stupid letters and i couldn’t.
i’m not going to eat salmon , because i just can’t and i had salmonella 4 x’s and now have mercury poisoning..
1989- asthma *1996 chiropractor said there was a town, where everyone got sick from soy boats, just breathing soy..*
2003- sent to johns hopkins /test for toxic molds and dr said it was too hard to test .. asked if soy allergy and he laughed…
2004- worst stachybotryus ever seen. 6.7 and dr gave me shot of soy and i almost choked to death..
Yikes, that is awful Erin! Are you okay now?
well i was telling you the parts to tell you that soy story. but there are 3 molds and they aren’t going away…12 years now.i bought a condo in arlington, va. and iit was filled with mold, so was i . so the head of asthma was an idiot and dumb about soy too…
Good luck with taking care of that. I know chlorella gets rid of mercury, maybe it gets rid of mold too? But talk to a professional because I think if you take too much of it, it can have an adverse reaction. I just do a little chlorella/spirulina regularly. I feel really good.
really for mercury too. the 1st mold dr gave me sun chlorella for mold and millions of other things but ,that & 40 g of fiber a day for 8 years or- hospital …
so that is why i listen to jazz 24 hours a day. i’m inside.lol
Oh boy, I hope you get better soon! I love sun chlorella! YUM!
What Erin said is correct and to make it easy, here’s some stuff you can download from PETA: http://www.peta.org/living/beauty-and-personal-care/companies/default.aspx
But after awhile you’ll memorize who does and doesn’t — which is great for me because now that I’m old I don’t have to bother digging for my reading glasses in my bag -ha-ha-ha 😉
Thanks, Maryanne 🙂
congratulations maryanne!
Thanks 🙂
Now this is truly an outstanding award, and you are obviously a great animal lover and such a deserving recipient! Thank you so much for the nomination!
This is fabulous, Maryanne! Congratulations and well done 😀
Thanks Dianne! I stopped doing the “awards” for awhile, but this one was too cute to pass up, plus it’s for a good cause 🙂
Congratulations and you definitely deserve this award. It is such a gorgeous one as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for passing it on to us. Very much appreciated.
Hi Miss Maryanne–Thank you again for nominating me for the amazing Missy Award! I have finally shared the love with some very deserving bloggers. You can click here http://thek9harperlee.wordpress.com/2013/03/28/the-missy-award-its-all-about-the-animals/ to read all about them. Kiss an animal (or two, or three, or . . .) today!
I saw that this morning, Miss Harper Lee! And you know what’s funny, I forgot I gave it to you (pre-senior moment, I guess) and I thought someone else did — so I’m like, how cool is that, the Missy Award is going around 🙂
I recently saw someone else who had received, but now I can’t remember who it was. A pre-senior moment at four years old. Oh no. 😦
I meant ME — I was having a pre-senior moment 🙂
I meant ME . . . I was having one, too! It’s contagious!
LOL! You’re the funniest dog in the universe, right up there with my Derick kitty 🙂
Thanks for your comment and taking this opportunity to promote your online pet store. It’s very nice. If you’d like to gift a treat for my kitties, I’d be happy to barter and write a blog feature on you guys. Let me know: maryannechristiano@gmail.com
